The Woodland Park Zoo, located right outside of Seattle in Woodland Park, Washington, houses 92 aces of gardens and exhibits. The renounced zoo follows only behind the Bronx Zoo for the most Best National Exhibit awards won from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
The zoo boasts over two thousand plant and animal specimens, including thirty-five endangered species. The zoo might be best known for its immersion habitats, which replicate as closely as possible what it would feel like to exist within an animal’s natural environment. Woodland Park’s gorilla exhibit was the first immersion habitat of its kind, and has since become the standard for many zoo exhibits across the world.
