Memphis Zoo

Memphis Zoo
Founded in 1906, Memphis Zoo is situated in Midtown Memphis, Tennessee. The zoo serves as a home to more than 3,500 animals that represent more than 500 different species from all over the world. These animals are taken care of in three zones namely East, Central, and West zones, all of which aim at replicating the natural habitats of these animals. The zone is actually divided into 19 exhibits.

Landscapes form part of these zones, and thus the exhibits. There are many water features like ponds, waterfalls, and fountains. These features are considered dominant in the overall design of each zone aside from the artificial rock formations and diverse mix of trees, shrubs, and plants.

There are also many gardens that Memphis Zoo maintains. In these gardens, the plants are the featured items. Some gardens feature tropical plants that are grown in many areas particularly during the summer months. Some of these plants are banana plants, hibiscuses, and oleanders.

With all of these features and elements, Memphis Zoo commits at providing the guests with ‘always something to do’, which is its overall theme.
