Tiger Found Dead at Miami Metro Zoo

Zoo Miami (formerly Miami Metro Zoo) awoke to a discomforting and tragic event in their zoo.

Tevy, a female  Malayan Tiger, was discovered dead this morning in her zoo home.

As more test are being done the cause seems to be liver failure.  Tevy had been showing symptoms of sickness and weakness on and off for the last month, and was in the middle of treatment when she passed this morning.

Tevy was less than 2 months away from turning 13. She was born at the Cincinnati Zoo and after a stop at the Knoxville Zoo arrived at Zoo Miami in 2010. Malayan Tigers are extremely endangered and Tevy was brought to Zoo Miami with breeding plans to help grow the worlds tiger population.
