The LeHigh Valley Zoo is located inside the extensive Trexler Nature Preserve, which is made up of over 1,100 acres of natural land. The zoo itself is situated on 29 acres of space within the preserve. The zoo is home to nearly three hundred different animals, with seventy different species represented. Located in Schnecksville, Pennsylvania, the LeHigh Valley Zoo receives over 100,000 visitors annually.
The LeHigh Valley Zoo was initially established as a children’s zoo, with construction beginning in 1974. Within the children’s zoo, kids could interact with farm animals, like sheep and goats. However, the LeHigh Valley Zoo has since expanded to include species survival plans; most notably, the zoo looks after oryx, lemurs, and African penguins.

To get to the zoo, take Route 100 to Kistler Road. Follow the LeHigh Valley Zoo signs, and take a right onto Game Preserve Road. You will see the main entrance gate in a half mile. Continue through the gate to the pay booth.
