Kansas City Zoo

Kansas City Zoo
Kansas City Zoological Park, or simply Kansas City Zoo, was founded in 1909, making it one of the oldest zoos in the US. Kansas City Zoo is currently located in Swope Park. The zoo houses more than 1,300 animals.

In 2008, Kansas City was voted as the number one zoo in the US. This is because of the African Animals and Exhibits, one the zoo’s main attraction. The exhibit represents an extensive collection of African animals that one will never see in other zoos in the US. Kansas City Zoo dedicates about 95 acres of land to this exhibit alone.

Other than its Africa exhibit, Kansas City Zoo also features Australia, Tiger Trail, The Valley, and KidZone. The zoo also features the Polar Bear Plunge at the front entry plaza and the Great Ape House.

Considering the vastness of the zoo, Kansas City Zoo management ensures that the people will get to see what it has to offer. There are various transportation modes inside the zoo including zebra trams, zoo train ride, Lake Nakuru boat ride, and African sky safari.

Kansas City Zoo offers a virtual tour.
