Established in 1966, the Los Angeles Zoo has more than 1,100 animals. The zoo’s population consists of amphibians, invertebrates, reptiles, birds, and mammals. There’s the Animals & You Program that allows you to get up close and personal with the animals. Some of the Animal &You stations include the Guinea Pig, Black Widow Spider, La Plata 3-Banded Armadillo, Elongated Tortoise, and Vietnamese Walking Stick.

Directions: If you’re travelling along Westbound 134, move into the right lane near I-5 (Golden State) Freeway. Use the signs leading to 134 Ventura Freeway as a guide. Take exit Zoo Drive. Pass the soccer fields and go across the bridge into the parking lot.

When driving on Eastbound 134, take exit Victory Boulevard. Make a right and then a left onto Zoo Drive. Travel on Zoo Drive until you arrive at the parking lot.

If you’re travelling along Northbound 5, move into the right lane near 134 east heading to Pasadena. Take exit Zoo Drive. Make a right at the stop sign. Continue driving across the bridge until you arrive at the parking lot.

When driving on Southbound 5, take exit Western Avenue. Make a left onto Victory Boulevard and another left onto Zoo Drive. Travel along Zoo Drive until you arrive at the parking lot.


Los Angeles Zoo Jobs

From time to time the Los Angeles Zoo offers a variety of full-time jobs in administration, public relations, animal care, construction, education, grounds maintenance, and admissions. The Civil Service Selection Process is in charge of the hiring process for full-time city-funded positions at the zoo. If you’d like to secure one of these positions, you must pass a Civil Service Examination. Once you’re hired, you’ll be placed on probation for six months or longer depending on the type of job.
